the advantage of using Quantum Trim? |
|
| |

gives you vibrant, durable colors in a material that’s guaranteed not
to crack, split or rot. It’s a cellular PVC product
with a finish that’s virtually indistinguishable from painted wood.

an excellent choice for exterior applications such as window or door
trim, fascia, rake boards, soffits and
friezes. It’s available in a full line of interior and exterior
moldings that is well-suited to any new or retrofit application,
especially where moisture is a concern.

Can
I use the Push-Lock Insert on 1x boards? |
|
| |
No. The
Push-Lock Insert can be used with any of our 5/4 Channel Trim boards or
one-piece 5/4 Channel Cornerboards. To achieve the look of a fitted butt

|
| |
Does
Quantum need to be painted? |
|
| |
No.
Quantum features a factory-applied Polaneâ finishing system developed
with Sherwin-Williamsâ. Polane is a high-grade,
two-part urethane surface that’s almost impossible to scratch or chip.
It’s one of the most consistent and
durable coatings available. The reflective enamel also helps prevent
fading.
|
|
| |
Can
Quantum be painted after installation? |
|
| |
Although
Quantum comes pre-finished, you can paint it any time with any
high-grade acrylic exterior house paint with
an LRV rating of 55 or above.
|
|
| |
Will
Quantum Trim fade? |
|
| |
Any finish
exposed to continual sunlight may fade over the years. However, the
finish applied to Quantum is typically used
on airliners, military vehicles and in other extreme circumstances. It’s
one of the most rugged and durable finishes
in the world today.
|
|
| |
How
do I deal with exposed end-cuts? |
|
| |
All
Quantum colors are pre-matched with Sherwin-Williams Duration® paint
for painting exposed end-cuts. For nail holes,
just dab with paint and wipe off the excess.
|
|
| |
What
are my color options? |
|
| |
Quantum
comes in 28 standard colors in all standard profiles, and in over 1,400

What
is the warranty on Quantum Trim? |
|
| |
The
Quantum substrate carries a lifetime warranty against cracking, rot,
delamination, insect penetration and hail damage.
The surface coating is warranted for 25 years against cracking, peeling
and chipping.
|
|
| |
What
tools are required to install Quantum Trim? |
|
| |
Quantum
installs with standard woodworking tools. A circular saw with a
carbide-tipped blade will easily cut the boards.
A router with a carbide bit can be used to create rabbets or other
modifications. And Quantum can be fastened
with a power nailer. For specifics, please see the Quantum Installation
Instructions.

|
| |
Can
I heat-form Quantum to fabricate curved trim details? |
|
| |
Yes.
When heated slowly and uniformly, Quantum responds well to heat bending.
|
|
| |
Will
Quantum Trim generate mold or mildew? |
|
| |
Since mold
only grows on organic matter, it can’t grow on the trim itself. It can
grow on any accumulated dirt, although
the extent of potential damage is very limited. If mold or mildew does
appear, just wash it off with a mild soap
solution and rinse.
|
|
| |
Can
Quantum Trim rot or flake? |
|
| |
No.
Cellular PVC will not absorb moisture or water under any conditions, and
Quantum has a limited lifetime warranty
against cracking, rot, and delamination.
|
|
| |
Is
Quantum Trim recyclable? |
|
| |
Yes,
Quantum is 100% recyclable.
|
|
| |
Is
a mask or respiratory protection necessary when cutting Quantum
products? |
|
| |
Quantum
cuts and handles like wood and releases no toxic fumes or substances
into the atmosphere. Use the same
safety procedures you would use when handling wood.
|
|
| |
Will
Quantum Trim hold a flame? |
|
| |
Quantum
products are considered self extinguishing; the removal of an active
flame will stop the product from
burning.
